Bought my GS450L from a PSU student in April, and thought I'd give bike restoration a try. I had a very similar bike when I was 17 years old - a 1981 GS250T. Now I'm in my mid-forties looking for a project to do. I've never rebuilt bikes - so this will be my first attempt. I'm a computer nerd by trade, and a retired Army soldier. Most I've ever done (mechanically) is an oil change and the occasional brake pad replacement on a car. I also own a 2002 Vstar 1100 that seems to need a $500 repair every year! It's a great bike, but I wanted to start small and maybe work my way up to repairing my own 1100. This bike does run (when you push it down the road) but it won't idle unless you keep it choked. I bought a new battery for it, but it will not start at all. Wiring looks a bit out of wack, so I'll dive into that later.
